League Meeting 2/5/08 @ 6:30pm

  1. Tony from the Men’s League joined the first half of the meeting
  2. Talk of building a second field on Purchase Street
    1. Cost and upkeep too much for a new field for the Men’s League alone
    2. Tony will get proposals from local companies for an estimate on how much the field will cost to build / maintain per season
    3. Men’s League proposed that Men & Women split the cost of new field and maintenance of all fields
    4. Women’s League would like to incorporate some kind of contract for the town, stating that we will always be able to utilize the field on our set days for Carver Women’s & Men’s Softball Leagues.
    5. The above issues will also be discussed with the town’s Recreation Committee. (Representative: Roberta) Next Recreation Meeting: 2/7/08 @ 5:30
    6. Tony has agreed to maintain fields if we split the costs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays
    7. Approximate cost for maintenance of fields = $1500 / field / season
    8. CWSL will work on organizing “Field Clean Up Days” painting, raking, filling in holes, etc. to possibly decrease cost of maintenance

                                                             v.      Gold Tournament: Kerri, Sandy, Roberta, Cindy, Lori (8/8/08 @ Squirrel Run) Need a large committee to make this easier for everyone. Team participation a major plus

    1. Banquet: 9/6/08, All Star Game: 7/12/08 @ 5:30pm, Golf Tournament: 8/8/08
    2. According to interest / e-mails to the league we may have 3 possibly 4 new teams forming this season
    3. Registration Fee is increasing by $10.00 / season. This cost will help maintain our fields throughout the season (incl. possible new field) and includes the banquet fee for CWSL players
    4. Field Permit signed as of yesterday, and will be submitted by Roberta (Fields are set up for Women’s League Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday for rain cancellations)
    5. Umpire Situation: All set for the season (Lori) The Umpires will let us know about possible tournaments
    6. Preseason Tournament: Bourne Softball League would like to have a Pre-Season Tournament (pending on whose willing / able to get their teams together) Possibly Mother’s Day Weekend.
    7. Recruitment: Everyone should be getting in touch with their teams to ensure each team has enough players, and if they don’t they should be notifying the League so that we can make arrangements. Deadline for teams is at our April Meeting.
    8. Season Schedule: We will start the season on 5/5/08 through early August, depending on how many teams we have
    9. Suggestions for rule changes, etc: Umpires, strike zone (hitting the plate vs. hitting the black rim of the plate, 17” plates)
